At Richard Harding Construction, we are delighted to announce our ongoing sponsorship of the Make A Difference Project CIC, a mental health support initiative based in Plymouth. As a trusted construction company committed to giving back to our local community, we are happy to be able to support a cause that can make a genuine difference to local people’s lives.
The Make A Difference Project is a mental health support group founded by 2 local men, Gareth Russell (Founder of MAKE mental health) and Jordan Sissons (Director of Coastal Strength CIC). The Make a Difference Project is built with the belief that movement has the power to change lives. The goal is to use physical activity and community support to help people rebuild confidence, structure and purpose.

The aim of the group is simple: to help people improve their mental wellbeing through sport, walks, and talks, creating safe and supportive spaces where people can build their confidence and talk openly with like-minded people.
A key part of the project’s work currently takes place alongside the Harbour Centre in Plymouth, where Gareth and his team are supporting the rehabilitation of ex-addicts through structured boxing, Muay Thai and conditioning programmes. These sessions are structured around improving physical health as well as helping the participants build confidence in their day-to-day lives.
Support and sponsorship from companies like us means that the Make A Difference Project can continue to go from strength to strength, with plans to host regular mental health wellbeing room drop-ins as well as coffee mornings to support the elderly.
We’re excited to see the continued positive impact that this sponsorship will bring across Plymouth and look forward to sharing more about the different community initiatives that the project will be working on in the coming months.
